Serve God’s people this Summer 2018

High School Summer Mission – Louisville, KY  June 17 – June 22

Current grades 9-12   

-UPDATE June 9:  The Social on Friday June 15, 700pm

This event is for the work camp participants AND their families: mom/dad/grandparent/wife.
sorry sibs – you’ll hve your chance next time…and I dont have that much room.

Why?  Because we are going as a Nativity family and we should know who the important folks are in our lives that will be supporting us through prayer and sacrifice.  You’ll get to meet my family too.

To that end – the social on June 15 is for us to share home cooked food, share a lesson on ladder safety, and have a final talk in final prep for Saturday’s 11:30pm departure!!!!

TEES:  You will be receiving your tee-shirts for Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs and your cinch bag.

What to bring:  Pot Luck!
– A dish to share – Serves 10
– Make what you would like to eat.  It’s a pot luck ya’ll!
– Don’t bring serving spoons – I got that and the beverages.
– Bring a blanket – we’ll be outside on the lawn if it’s not raining (here’s hoping)
– Bring your parent, grandparent, spouce!
– Dress modestly.. you know….

PERSONAL SAFETY TOOL LIST

Each person is required to bring the following items to CHWC. Please put them in a small backpack and take them to your worksite. These tools will not be collected.

  • Small insulated water jug – PUT NAME ON IT

  • Safety goggles – RECOMMEND SAFETY GLASSES

  • Work gloves – LEATHER, GARDENING, AND RUBBER.  PUT NAME ON IT

  • Mini facemask for scraping/painting – OR BANDANAS

  • PERSONAL SUPPLY LIST – PACK SPARINGLY. ONLY WHAT YOU NEED.

    • Pillow – SMALL ONE

    • Sleeping bag or sheets & blanket – FLEECE RECOMMENDED

    • Foam pad or air mattress (twin-size only) – PAD RECOMMENDED RATHER THAN AIR MATT

    • Underwear – one per day plus 2

    • WE’LL GIVE YOU A TEE PER DAY.  BRING 2 EXTRA

    • Work Pants:  1 PAIR RECOMMENDED.  CARPENTER/DICKIES, LIGHT WEIGHT COTTON

    • Shorts – 3-5 PAIR.  5 INCH INSEAM.  FOR WORK & POST SHOWER/PROGRAM

    • Socks – ONE PER DAY PLUS 2

    • Sturdy shoes or work boots – YES!
      ‘SHOES’ FOR EVENING PROGRAM AND A SECOND PAIR TO GIVE THE FIRST A BREATHER

    • Cap/hat – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

    • Rain gear/jacket/poncho

    • Bathing suit (mandatory) and flip-flops for shower

    • Toothbrush/toothpaste – YES!!!!!!

    • Soap/shampoo – RECOMMENDED – BODY & HAIR WASH – TRAVEL SIZE – LESS TO CARRY

    • Deodorant – YES!!!!

    • Suntan lotion/sunscreen – YES!

    • Towels/washcloths – LIGHT WEIGHT FOR EASY DRYING

    • Plastic bag for dirty clothes – PACK DAILY CLOTHES IN ZIP LOCK AND USE FOR DIRTIES

    • Alarm Clock – DONT NEED IT

    • MONEY TO PURCHASE CHWC SWAG – A hoodies goes for $35, tees run $10-20

    • PHONE/DEVICE FULLY CHARGED – you’ll give it to me when you board the bus.  Adult will refrain from using it.

    • A MOVIE TO WATCH ON THE WAY UP/BACK.

At this brief but important meeting, we will review the following:
– Reviewing the work week, reviewing WHY you are going, And how parents can support this mission.
– Work Teams – What to expect:  Safety and adult supervision, what to do if…
– Packing and Dress code and Review of the Behavior Code/Sexual Harrasment
– Meals, Shower Protocols, Extra Cash, Phone Protocol
– Travel Schedule
– Planning for June 15 Social
– T-Shirt planning
– Need ADULT VOLUNTEER to coordinate snacks

**IF you have a conflict with this meeting due to sports, you must contact me to let me know.
It’s your responsibility to notify me by THURSDAY – the day before the meeting.
We will need to meet on an alternate date – which I will give you.
Not contacting me and rescheduling will compromise your attendance at work camp.
